Tyre
Tyre is the world’s most famous free software program for creating GPS routes from behind your PC. With one mouse-click you can copy the routes that you make with Tyre to your TomTom or Garmin navigation system. More information about the program Tyre, its functions and its history can be found here.
Tyre is simple, functional and reliable!
Step 1: Have you already downloaded Tyre? If not, do so first.
If you want to use Tyre, you must first install the software. That is possible only if you use a Windows computer or an ‘other’ computer with a Windows emulator. It is also important that the latest version of MS Internet Explorer is installed on your computer. It can be downloaded for free here.
Step 2: Start Tyre
You can start Tyre by clicking on the icon of Tyre on your desktop. It is also possible to start Tyre by using the button below. If you click on the button, the computer asks you what you want to do with this file. Choose ‘Open’. Tyre starts and shows an example route.
Have fun with the preparation of your route, because as we know it’s not about the destination but the journey towards it! And much of the pleasure of the trip is in the preparation.
Step 3: What to do if Tyre does not come up?
If Tyre does not come up, some other program has ‘stolen’ the .itn file type. Follow these steps to restore the situation:
- Run Tyre. Select ‘Preferences’ from the ‘Tools’ menu.
- Find the ‘Connect TomTom itinerary files (*.itn) to Tyre’ option.
- Mark the option by a checkmark, if necessary.
- Click OK.
